Minnesota Archaeology Week was established to promote public interest in archaeology and increase an understanding of the role it plays in Minnesota’s rich cultural heritage. Merjent is a proud sponsor of the 2014 Elden Johnson Distinguished Lecture, “Minnesota’s CCC Camps as Archaeological Resources: A Legacy of Environmental Restoration and Economic Recovery.”
One of the high points of the annual Minnesota Archaeology Week will be this year’s Elden Johnson lecture given by Mark Bruhy of Commonwealth Cultural Resources Group, Inc. The lecture will focus on efforts to evaluate, preserve, and research Minnesota’s 10 documented Civilian Conservation Corps camps. The talk will be held on Friday September 19 at 7pm in the Historic Fort Snelling Visitor Center.
The Merjent Cultural Resources Team encourages every Minnesotan to take advantage of the wide range of open houses, talks, and events scheduled this year! All Archaeology Week events are free to the public. For more information, visit the Minnesota Office of the State Archaeologist’s website at www.osa.admin.state.mn.us
